I have a strange situation: I currently have a home network with 3 PC’s and a DSL router. 2 of the 3 PC’s with Windows and the DNS is the IP of the router (in this case 10.0.0.2) shows, everything is ok with these 2, but the 3rd PC running Linux (more specifically Fedora Core 5). Now when I open the Network Settings window, search, and then of course I have DNS 10.0.0.2 in the primary DNS right? Nope, not working, I can ping the other 2 PC’s using their IP’s but not their name – The same applies to web pages. So after much googling I found out that I have is the DNS IP use, the router (something like 196.xxx) and plug it directly into the Linux settings I can now really open Web pages, but now have I still can not access the local 2 PC’s. What the heck is going wrong here? Why does Windows to do all seem to “automatically” when compared to Linux ?================================== ==

ISP DNS is not configured to beheben.Schauen the name of your PC, just a file “hosts”. When you surf the Internet, have you been with your home router.

If you have a home network, would in most cases, the internal IP, the IP address on the Internet to your computer normally 192.168.1.1 is the default . It could be the DHCP on your router and set your computer, including the Linux machine to an IP address automatically and set your default gateway 192.168.1.1. How to set up KDE Linux: Login as root in the systems menu, select “Network Device Control ‘, then select your card, click the Configure button when the” Network device configuration “appears, double- on your device then the “Ethernet Device” window opens, make this window the following settings: 1. activate device when starting the Computers2 automatically obtain IP address DHCP3 Check the box next to “Automatically obtain DNS information from the provider. . Then you start the computer, and you should go.
